Pinecrest Gardens is comprised of 20 acres of land surrounded by a village. It is a nice place with a large botanical garden having a family-friendly environment with a huge parking facility. This large area is a nice place for a get together with family and friends. A group can pass the maximum time of the day doing different activities as it can be a nice picnic spot with different opportunities.

History

The garden was set on the site of the parrot jungle which was a historic district of Florida. After the parrot jungle relocated to the other part of Florida, the Pinecrest garden situated here to preserve the historic landscape and architecture of the place. After that in 2011, the place was listed to the national register of historic places as the parrot jungle historic district. Additionally, various renovations have done after 2003 and the garden has been extended as well.

Location and visiting hours 

The Pinecrest garden is located in the corner of the red road and the street number is 11000. It is not that far from south Miami.

The garden is open 365 days of a year which includes the holidays as well. However, the visiting time may differ during holidays or special events. So you need to visit the social media or their website to confirm the visiting hours. The visiting hours of the garden are from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays the timing is from 9 am to 6 pm.

Whereas, Splash N Play and the Petting Zoo time is different than the general admission hours of the garden. Splash N Play visiting time is from 10 am to 5 pm daily. But the weather and maintenance is an exception.

The Petting Zoo visiting hours is fixed. It takes 30 minutes to visit the Zoo.  The timing is 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. The ending time is 30 minutes after the given time.

You need to pay a little to enter into the garden and the admission fee includes Splash N Play and the Petting Zoo.

  • For general people, the price is $5 per person.
  • For seniors (65+) the fee is $2 per person.
  • Children under 2 years the entry is free.
  • For active military persons, the entry is also free.

Natural beauty

The natural beauty of the place is beyond imagination. The place is enriched with various ancient things like a 30,000-year-old solution hole, a 100-year-old cocoplum, and many other natural landmarks. Additionally, there is a wide variety of native and non-native tropical flora which made the garden more beautiful. For the easy movement of the visitors, a tranquil path was made. Additionally, you can visit the lake which was named as swan lake and you can also feed the fishes that are present there.

Events 

There is also a big acclaimed banyan bowl inside the garden with 530 seats. You can attend several movie shows, concerts, theater, music and dance events, several movie events and many more here. The events are organized by several organizations throughout the year for four to five times.

Other than the banyan bowl there are some other locations that you can rent for different events. For example, if you want to organize a birthday party in the open air, there is a nice and amazing outside location. On the other hand, for weddings and outdoor events, there are also other locations. Furthermore, for indoor meetings, conferences and parties there are several indoor spaces inside the garden which are available for rent.

If you plan to go to the Pinecrest garden, plan to go there on Sundays as you will find a weekly market there which held on every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm whether it is rain or sun. Here many local farmers join the market to sell the products. You will find fresh organic fruits, vegetables, flowers, orchids, honey, coffee, tea, soap, candles, various homemade products, artisan backers, local fresh honey and many more. Most importantly, you are going to get all of them fresh and organic. There is no entry fee to visit the market. You will also get smoothies, fresh juice, and many other items there.
